How to Integrate with Zapier?

Zapier is a program that allows non-technical people to link a critical incident from one service to one or more actions in another. Zapier connects to hundreds of services, so each connection is referred to as a 'Zap.'

How to Create a Zap?

Set up a workflow rule in an AppSheet app to fire an event that triggers the Zap and have the Zap send the data from the workflow rule to someone through email. You might use any of the hundreds of Zapier actions instead.

Step 1 Set up a Zapier account first.

Step 2: Click "Make a New Zap" to create a new Zap.

Step 3: Assign a name to the Zap.

Step 4 Edit "Name your zap" in the top left with a name for your Zap.

Configure the Trigger to Webhook in Step 4.

Step 5: Select "Catch Hook" from the "Trigger Event" selection and click "Continue."

Step 6: Click the "Copy" button to copy the "Custom Webhook URL" to the clipboard. Then press "Continue."

Step 7: In your AppSheet app, create a Workflow Rule.

Step 8: Set up a WebHook action in your AppSheet app's workflow rule.

Inside the URL field of the action, paste the Zapier Webhook URL. It configures the AppSheet workflow code to launch the Zap when the workflow rule is executed. Note that you must also mark your app as deployable for the workflow rules to fire.

Step 9: Create a data update in your AppSheet application and save it from activating the AppSheet Webhook.

Step 10: Go to Zapier and select 'Test trigger.' It informs Zapier that you've submitted a test webhook to trigger the Zap.

Step 11: Zapier should get the webhook from your AppSheet app and display the screen "Test triggered, We detected a request!" The JSON webhook body sent through your AppSheet webhook will be visible.

Step 12: Select an Action to complete your Zap. Let's start with an Email action to keep things basic.

Step 13: Set up the email action correctly. Because all of the fields from the changed record in AppSheet are present in the 'payload' delivered from AppSheet, you can use any of them.

Step 14: Complete your Zap — now you can enable it, and it will connect the AppSheet app to the rest of the globe via Zapier!
